Indian Conglomerate Set to Become Major Shareholder

Bharti Global, a subsidiary of Bharti Enterprises, has acquired a 24.5% stake in British Telecom (BT) Group plc, the UK's largest mobile and broadband provider.

The acquisition, highlighted by Shravin Mittal, Managing Director of Bharti Global, represents a significant investment by the Indian conglomerate in the British telecommunications market. Bharti Enterprises, led by billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal, will purchase the stake from French telecom company Orange.

The move gives Bharti Global a substantial presence in the UK telecom industry and will further expand its global portfolio. The acquisition will also provide BT with access to Bharti's extensive experience in emerging markets and its strong customer base.

Following the completion of the acquisition, Bharti Global is expected to become a major shareholder in BT, strengthening its position as a leading player in the global telecommunications landscape.
